Through the comparison and analysis of 16 Chinese and American university rankings' evaluation indicators, it is found that there is a consensus between the two countries' university rankings, and both show certain local characteristics. Quality of enrolled students, the development of teaching staff and the employment of graduates are the common concerns of the Chinese and American university rankings. The honors of teachers and students, educational conditions, scientific research output, moral cultivation and social reputation of colleges and universities constitute the characteristics of the Chinese university rankings. Degree completion, student diversity, cost of higher education, school finance, and student experience characterize the characteristics of the American university rankings. In view of this, the Chinese university ranking should flexibly introduce diverse evaluation content, integrate the needs of regional and national development strategies, and highlight the diverse characteristics and study experience of students. |
